About Power Ten

Formed in 1981 by Frank Shields, Power Ten New York is a diverse association of oarsmen and oarswomen who are committed to supporting the sport of rowing, both nationally and internationally.

Power Ten members come together once a year for a formal dinner in New York City to celebrate and honor those who have triumphed in, as well as those who are passionate, about the sport. It is a great gathering of old friends and family, where old rivalries are checked at the door.

Virtually every prominent figure in the sport of rowing has passed through the “halls” of Power Ten New York. As Frank Shields has often said, “The greatest thing about a Power Ten Dinner is that no one there has ever lost a race.”
