A fraternal organization celebrating and supporting the sport of rowing
As rowers, we are fierce competitors on the water, but once a year we put our oars and rivalries aside to honor the sport of rowing in the United States and internationally. Every year, passionate rowers from around the world come together in New York City for a formal dinner to celebrate those who have triumphed in the sport and to reunite with colleagues and friends.
The Power Ten New York organization and annual dinner was the brainchild of Frank Shields, a former University of Pennsylvania oarsman. He worked in collaboration with Mike Meehan, another former Penn oarsman, and former U.S. Rowing President, Bill Hollenback, Jr., to establish the organization and organize the premier event spanning generations of rowers.
The organization also helps in funding U.S. National and Olympic Teams and other deserving rowing programs. As a 501 (c)(3) organization, it contributes annually to various rowing programs.
Power Ten New York continues to live its mission of fraternity in rowing based on the integrity and honesty embodied in its founding members. It will continue to grow stronger as we share more triumphs and deepen our relationships through our mutual love of the sport.
